In Parallel Journeys, poet/philosopher Ric Masten and clinical psychologist Dr. Larry Lachman, use an integrated approach, blending the poet's art and the psychologist's science in offering unique and powerful strategies for dealing with cancer. Masten's poetry, musings and no nonsense dialogue with today's medical community cuts to the quick! This, along with Lachman's ground breaking coping tools such as the SANITYMatrixTM, The Healing Narrative and The Five Insights for Recovery offer new ways to address cancer. Written with wisdom, compassion and humor, Parallel Journeys can help anyone who is facing cancer -or for that matter- any challenge to the mind, body and spirit.
Together, a young man diagnosed in early stage and an old man in advanced stage provide first hand battle tested tips for coping, from the shock of diagnosis to the side effects of treatment and the unexpected emotional depression that cancer patients often face. Masten and Lachman provide a literal roadmap on how to find the right support group, choose the right physician and determining when it is time to switch from cure to care.
